From ‘The Garden Room’….. Obsidian Home - January 2022

With the recent opening up of restaurants, bars, gyms and the excitement of finally being allowed garden gatherings with family and friends, our interior and garden decor is on the forefront of our minds once more. We have had our first glimpse of sunshine already this year, filling us with hope of a great summer ahead.

So let’s make the most of our garden or outside space! Whether you want to get busy with planting or just chill out, your outdoor area is definitely a place where friends and families can be together, dine alfresco, host weekend barbeques, evenings around the fire pit, or even create an outdoor gym area. Our outdoor space is without doubt an extension of the indoors to have fun, relax and entertain in.

Rugs, cushions, candles, lanterns, ornaments all dress our patios in the same way they would our living rooms. I see this trend emerging where we are all now looking to style our outside space as we would our home interiors. The boundaries between inside and outside have overlapped more than ever. With less of us moving home as often as we once did, we are looking for ways to adapt our homes to meet our changing needs. I predict a stark rise in bright coloured accessories and furniture outdoors.

Whether it’s a set of French doors, the door to your balcony, or an outdoor patio, your garden is an ideal place to style as a fifth room.’

Gardens and balconies with rustic potted plants, funky accessories, deep rugs lit with festoon styled lights are very on vogue right now. Your garden can be a full sensory experience, from hearing the sound of running water, the smell and sight of burning candles to the taste of home-grown produce. Your outdoor space can be a place for mindfulness.

We have a fantastic range of Garden Décor and quirky interior pieces to help you, so pop in and view our eclectic range at the ‘Shed’ on the Bence landscaping display in Town, or browse our online shop www.obsidianhome.co.uk from the comfort of your home and we’ll deliver to your door.
